The CFP® marks identify those individuals who have met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework and have passed the CFP® Certification Examination.

Kris knows that most of his clients have one of five concerns: saving for retirement, outliving their money, estate planning, long-term care, and saving for college.  His financial plans reflect the stage of life its owner is in: whether purchasing a first home, financing a child’s college education or planning for retirement. A plan must reflect its owner’s personal or business situation, and highlight those financial products that fit it best. “Being able to confidently determine when you can retire,” says Kris, “and having the freedom to choose the retirement lifestyle that you want is what my focus is.”  Kris says the only way to determine the above two items is to have a well thought out plan in place.

One of Kris’ favorite investment philosophies comes from a statement made by the great Warren Buffett that states “Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful.”  He knows that having a strategy in place can help reduce emotional mistakes that individuals tend to make during market volatility.  This is one key to making sure you don’t outlast your money.

Another quote Kris likes is from national best-selling author and radio host Dave Ramsey, “Financial winners don't run sprints, they run marathons. They don't rush. They do it step by step over time.”  Just as with successful long-term investing, so much of the hard work is up front, prior to the big race, in the form of training and preparation. Before an investor embarks on a 20+ year program, he or she must carefully think through investment objectives and constraints such as required return, risk tolerance and liquidity needs before arriving on an suitable asset allocation.  Just as a marathoner in training benefits from a good running partner or coach, your long-term investment performance may be enhanced by working with the right financial advisor.

Kris grew up in Clear Lake, IA and is a graduate of the University of Iowa where he double majored in Finance and Marketing.  Kris and his wife Emily have two sons, Calvin and Dillon.  He’s been involved with many community organizations including Habit for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Kiwanis, Chamber Ambassadors, etc.  He currently serves as a board member for the Venetian Village Canal Association and for Charlie Brown Preschool & Childcare.  He was previously on the boards for the Hi-Crew Kiwanis and the Big K Foundation.  Kris enjoys spending time with his growing family, reading, traveling, golfing, fishing, photography, and watching the Hawkeyes.
